Rayirath Gardens different from other Nurseries due to the following reasons. |
- Rayirath Gardens is the only GMP certified nursery in Kerala from Medicinal Plants Board Govt. of India.
- Astrological Plants like Birth Plants, Navagraha Plants, Rasi Plants, Ethno Botanical Plants , Holy Plants, imported rare fruit plants and medicinal plants are seen in the garden in bulk quantity.
- The Proprietor of Rayirath Gardens, Mr. Sudhakaran Rayirath is a botanist and he has got several National and International Awards for the works done in the agriculture sector.
- Published a farm Guide, a farm guide for healing plants which contains valuable information about medicinal plants.
- Telecasting several informative programs in the main Television Channels and has given classes for the Agricultural lovers coming to visit the Rayirath Gardens.

- It is mentioned that rare plants are seen in the garden. What are the rare plants?
Astrological plants like Birth Star plants, Rasi plants, Navagraha plants, Ethano Botanical plants, Single Drug plants, Holy plants, imported rare Fruit plants etc. are seen in the garden. The visitors coming to visit the nursery, can also purchase the seedlings of the mentioned plants which they like in bulk quantity at a reasonable rate.
- What is the reason for this much of rare plants seen in the garden?
In 1998 Mr. Sudhakaran Rayirath planted so many rare plants to develop a mother plants garden for his Government Approved and the only GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certified nursery in Kerala, the Rayirath Gardens. From these mother plants we are taking cuttings for the multiplication of sapplings in bulk.
- It says that there are several single drugs plants seen in the garden. Mention some plants coming around this categroy?
- Malayalam name - Sugarvalli – Botanical name – Tinospora crispa
It is a plant from Thailand, belongs to the family Tinospora cordifolia, common in Kerala. It is a climber, which is very effective for treating Diabetics.
Usage: Take a piece of 4 inch length matured plant stem, crush it and put it in one glass (250 ml) water and boil in the evening. Drink this water in the next day morning with empty stomach. Repeat this in the evening also. It will bring down the sugar level back to balance within a short time.
- Malayalam name – Ayyappana – Botanical name – Eupitorium triplinerve
It is very useful for Piles disease.
Usage: Take four to five fresh leaf and intake it after chewing in the empty stomach in morning and evening. Repeat this minimum 15 days, the piles disease will cure. The juice taken from the leaves is also very effective for curing the wounds.
- Malayalam name - Dhandapala – Botanical name – Wrightia tinctoria
It is very useful to cure Psoriasis.
Usage: Take 1:1 ratio of leaves of this plant and pure coconut oil and put in a mud pot and expose this whole in direct sunlight for minimum 7 days. The color of the coconut oil will change into dark blue. Filter this oil and apply in the affected part for minimum 1 hour. Remove the oil from the body using green gram powder (pea powder) before bath. Repeat this up to one month. The disease will slowly cure.
- Malayalam name – Churakkalli – Botanical name – Jatropha multifida
This plant is very effective for burns and wounds.
Usage: Apply the fluid coming from the bark of this plant to the affected area, which will cure the wound with in short time.
- Malayalam name – Noni – Botanical name – Morinda citrifolia
Very effective for Diabetic patients.
Usage: Daily taking the juice from the fruits of this plant in morning and evening will help to control the diabetic disease.
- Malayalam name – Lakshmitaru – Botanical name – Simarouba glauca
It is a single drug plant for Cancer and other 27 types of major diseases.
Usage: Take some leaves with stem and put it in one glass (250 ml) water and boil in the evening.Drink this water in the next day morning will prevent the cancer from spreading.
- Malayalam name – Mullatha – Botanical name – Annona muricata
It is a single drug plant and is very effective for Cancer disease.
Usage: Daily take the juice taken from the fruits of this plant in morning and evening prevent the cancer from spreading. The leaves also can be used for this purpose.
- Explain the details of some ethno botanic plants (tribal's using as medicine) in the garden?
- Malayalam name – Analivegam – Botanical name – Pittosporum tetraspermum
It is the most effective Anti-venom for snake bite,that is used by tribals for saving their life.
Usage: Pour the juice taken from the bark of this plant in the affected area and also give some milk mix with this juice to the affected person which will save the life all the soon. If any poisonous snake comes close to this plant, it will die within a short time.
- Malayalam name – Arogya pacha – Botanical name – Trichopus zeylanicus
It is used as an energy booster.
Usage: It is used for making an energy booster medicine Jeevani, a mixture of the flowers and the fruits of this plant and Amukkuram (Botanical name – Withania somnifera).
- Describe some of the Holy Plants in the garden.
- Malayalam Name – Simsipa Vriksha – Botanical name - Amherstia nobilis- Pride of Burma
This is considered to be one of the most beautiful flowering trees in the world. This tree is mentioned in the ancient Ramayana. The king Ravana after stealing Sita, kept her beneath this tree.
- Malayalam Name - Rudraksham – Botanical name - Eliocarpus ganitrus
The term Rudraksha itself symbolizes Lord Siva. Rudarksha can be worn by any person without the consideration of nation, religion, caste, sex with full confidence to get desired benefits in Mandalam period(41 Days). One should wear the malas except sex time, attending a funeral and also ladies are not suppose to wear the malas during their menstrual periods. It also helps for longevity and avoids untimely death. It is believed that, one who baths in the water in which 9 (nine) rudrakshas are kept will get benefits equally to Gangajal bathing and energy gaining.
- Malayalam Name – Krishnanal – Botanical name - Ficus krishnae
This plant is known as lord Krishnas butter cup. It is believed that Lord Krishna was very fond of butter and would even steal it. Once when he was caught by his mother Yashoda, he tried to hide the butter by rolling it up in a leaf of this tree. Since then, the leaves of these trees have retained this shape.
- Malayalam Name – Karutha kunthirikkam – Botanical Name -Canarium strictum
The bark of this tree after dried is used for fumigation in temples and mosques. The decoction or the powder of resin is given internally as a remedy in rheumatism, cough, fever, epilepsy, asthma, syphilis, blood impurities, hernia, various poisons and chronic skin diseases.
